Hello
My name is Peter Minns
I have been using the Jedit and Transterpreter Virtual Machine (TVM) for a few weeks now, developing Occam programs for the Arduino UNO.
This has been fun. I use to use occam 2 way back in 1990 to 1993 when I was developing occam programs to run on the Transputer as part of my PhD.
After the Transputer disappeared I had to drop using occam and return to C/C++ for embedded system development.
Recently I have discovered the jEdit and occam pi Transterpreter and bee using this for the last two months. I started with the Plumbing based programs in occam but then started to write my own occam program accessing the Arduino registers direct. I have a few example programs that make use of PROCs and PAR SEQ.
UP to this point the Jedit IDE has been working fine on my Apple MAC Air. But I did a software update and the MAC wanted to update Java runtime engine so I let it do this (have done it lots of times in the past with no mishaps).
However after this update I could not launch Jedit. I tries to start up but when it gets to the point to load up an occam project it crashes.
All that can be done at this point is to force Jedit to close - which it does.
The error message I get is:
The autosave file/path.. has been loaded. You should now check if contains your saved data. If you would like to check the autosaved changes save the file, otherwise discard.. and then the Jedit stops working. You can still access the drop down menu bar but nothing works. You then need to force the program to terminate.
I have other Java apps that work just fine i.e., Arduino IDE, Netbean IDE, MPLABX IDE. They all work fine.
So it looks like I cannot now use the Transterpreter.
Has any other MAC computer user had this problem - you will need to have updated the java virtual machine recently. If so have you any idea how to get over it?
Thanks for your time.
regards.
Peter
