You might have already considered this, but just throwing this out there 
-- Would forking the Arduino IDE (technically that would be a fork of a 
fork of the Processing IDE, I guess) be something worth discussing?

It's simple, people can easily associate with it since they've already 
played with it during their Arduino experiments and I don't think it 
will be that difficult to hack (having said that, I have not looked at 
the source tree so that might not be true.)

I like the idea of having a purple hued Arduino IDE and I might take a 
stab at this in the next few weeks, when I can't handle any more thesis 
wrangling :)
