We'll do our best.

Yes. This sounds familiar. By which I mean "I had this problem recently."

So am I.

Are you running 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8?

Something, put simply, has changed underneath us, and we need to do a
new build and release (I think). The way we find out what serial ports
are on the Mac is broken, and things crash when we go looking.

I have just recently moved institutions, and (as it happens) do not
(yet) have an office. Setting up a build machine and getting a new
build up that fixes this is not something I can do (yet).

HOWEVER, you are in luck. I have a new tool that I've been working on
for use with students this next year. I'd love to have an intrepid
explorer try it out.

Here's the (mostly still accurate) demo:

 Are you interested?

Cheers,
Matt

PS. And, yes, we'll work on getting the Mac build working again. I
haven't had the opportunity to really sit down and look at it
properly, but my guess is our JINI call from the plugin is failing.
I'm personally wondering why we don't just do a regexp over the list
of devices in /dev that match "tty.usb" or "tty.ACM"... that seems
safer, and should work? (Asking CLJ and others on the list...)
