Hi James,

We'd like to encourage you to join the list; that way, everyone can be of
service.

My suspicion is that you need to upload the firmware. Did you first follow
the steps on pages 15, 16, and 17 to upload the firmware? If you don't do
that first, then the programs won't work.

If you have more questions, do feel free to join the users@ list, let us
know what operating system/type of Arduino you have, and we'll explore
"round two" of help.
