After thinking about it and looking at some code and a very good 
tutorial at: 
http://www.pyroelectro.com/tutorials/servo_motor/index.html  , I think 
that all that would be necessary is to provide a Timer that works with 
16 bit words or some other means of accessing the 16 bit timer on the 
the Atmega328p. I think I could do it in the servo code, but don't know 
how it would affect other occam-pi code.

The tutorial above is part of a collection of very useful tutorials. 
It's written for PIC processors, althoug they all look easy enough to 
adapt to the Arduino.

I don't expect a quick answer because you're very  busy with the 
semester now ending.
